Reprogramming our brain to productivity

I know you are tired of watching videos on YouTube about how to be productive and focus on important tasks. I bet after going through my article, you will understand the “ Game of the Brain “.

Overstimulation:

This is going to be my second article and I had planned to write more articles after my first. I was motivated to write more but I was having difficulty to start writing. What was going through my brain, even though I was ready and had ideas? The answer is the title “ Overstimulation”. I woke up, dared myself to write something, checked my Facebook, saw Instagram stories, watched a couple of videos on philosophy and football, and played games on my smartphone, that’s it. My days went through like this. You kind of have figured out what I’m saying, maybe, wasting my time? NO. I had overstimulated my mind, it was tired by the doses of dopamine ( Dopamine: It is a motivator chemical released in the brain. If you are going to eat a bar of chocolate, the motivating factor to eat chocolate is dopamine ). I bet if you are using your mobile phone the whole day, you won’t be able to do assignments as if is like physical work. During COVID-19, when we were chilling at our homes. The motivation to do any work was almost zero. All day long we were just releasing dopamine to watch another episode of your anime or series.

Back then, we didn’t have things like smartphones so children would go out and play all day and night, old people would go out for a walk, and married couples would spend their time together. Now children are playing games in their homes, and after playing straight five to six hours of the game, they can’t even study ( my little bro, yeah I’m trying to control ). I hope it’s enough to get my point.

How are you writing this?

After wasting my one week, I woke up, now writing this. I didn’t check my Facebook or Instagram after waking up because I knew what was going to happen. I would advise you to set a timetable ( not like studying ) like I did.

It could be morning or night, totally depends upon you. Don’t be a blind follower of someone who says that morning is best for your tasks or nights, it is you and your work, so think what suits you best. You don’t have to engage your brain like aimless scrolling and wasting your whole day on how to increase productivity and doing nothing. DON’T BE MENTALLY TIRED, that’s the point. Just slowly get out of that cycle. Why slowly, because you can be productive as Elon Musk for one day or week, but what you need is consistency.

Bonus tips:

➢ Instead of aimless scrolling or checking notifications every minute. Go out for a walk.

➢ Bore yourself instead of using your smartphone. You don’t realize the Importance of being bored. ( Importance of being bored, stay tuned)

➢ Give yourself some time too.

➢ Go to nearby quiet places. ( Not a single place in Karachi )

➢ Explore nature.

Can you see the pattern? All these things are interconnected, saying just one thing.

Please enjoy your present. Tomorrow I am going to the sea wall in my city. It was so soothing that waves were crossing over each other and making another wave. The weather was cloudy, with no direct sunshine. But I didn’t enjoy it to the fullest, why? Because some of my friends were just busy doing their cigarette things, hey I need this, let’s go in this restaurant, look at the menu, it’s value for money, they call the restaurant, are they open, hardly any minute they just stopped worrying and doing their stuff. I said “ Enjoy, be calm, no need to worry, will go anywhere, there is a lot of time. Can’t you see and observe the waves, how beautiful they are, aren’t they? “. So what was going to happen, they didn’t stop.
